The thirst for knowledge

P(OUR) is devoted to exploring new ideas, sharing information, and exchanging inspiration. In doing so, we help address our shared responsibilities and grow our entire industry.

P(OUR) was established in 2016 by Alex Kratena, Ryan Chetiyawardana, Jim Meehan, Simone Caporale, Monica Berg, Joerg Meyer and Xavier Padovani.

P(OUR) represents what we all have in common: as bartenders, baristas, sommeliers, brewers, distillers and winemakers, we all pour. The name is a union between the words ‘our’ and ‘pure’, and its purpose is to identify who we are and clearly define our goals.

About

We think it is important to look for something new as bartenders. We define our work as a chance to discover new ideas, and learn about all aspects of our industry.

Our aim is to organise an annual symposium bringing together bartenders, baristas, sommeliers, brewers, winemakers, distillers and drinks manufacturers, as well as people of other disciplines, to discuss the past, present and future of drink.

Alongside the annual symposium we will create a platform and resource for learning. Around the globe, P(OUR) will host discussions and presentations that address issues critical to our profession. Most importantly, we will record all events and share them here for free.

P(OUR) is committed to sharing knowledge and taking promising ideas from theory to action.

We believe great drinks are driven by purpose, not profit. We hope to connect the industry through our dedication for education. We want to improve the future of our industry.

Commitment. Focus. Innovation. Sharing.

Name

The name P(OUR) is the union between OUR and PURE. Its purpose is to draw positive associations from the words of origin and identify who we are, and our goals.

Uncorrupted, both in terms of the quality of the information and commitment we are seeking, and how we define our passion and dedication.

Across the industry, P(OUR)ing is what we all have in common. Bartenders, baristas, sommeliers, brewers, distillers, winemakers: at some point, we all P(OUR).

OUR community
OUR industry
OUR responsibility
PURE honest
PURE reliable
PURE uncorrupted
